But I want to hold Victoria!

Victoria had woken up from her second nap, early in the evening, and Isabella kept asking to pick Victoria out of her bed and hold her. Eventually, after Victoria was actually awake, we all went on to Mommy & Daddy's bed, and I put Victoria in Isabella's lap. All was well, except for Victoria. After she wakes up from sleep, she needs a bit of an adjustment period and did not really want her sister to hold her. Whose turn is it to throw a tantrum. Isabella's, I guess. As soon as I picked Victoria up (she wasn't staying put in Isabella's care and embrace anyways; she was sliding out), Isabella screamed and protested. . . Welp, at least she loves her sister.

Love at first sight

Yesterday afternoon, Christina & Oliver came over for a little visit. What you don't see is the first time Oliver and Victoria were together not long after we moved to Colorado, at church. I missed the whole shin dig. Oliver, who is about a month older than Victoria, took the initiative and held hands with Victoria.

Apparently the tomance continues. . .

Oliver's quite good at sitting and is at the beginning stages of reaching. But, his mom, Christina, said that he's never reached quite as far for any other baby as he has for Victoria.

Here we go.

He loved Victoria so much he not only took her by the hand but he thought he was loving her by grabbing her hair and trying to bite her. Victoria did not receive the love memo and was quite beside herself

Even though she's a bit used to Isabella's rough housing, Ollie is in a different ball park. That's alright, I'm sure Victoria will come back around again soon.

Mommy's little kitchen helper

Isabella has been showing more interest in the potty, so I put it in an easily accessible place for her. She remembers that awhile back I once showed her how it can be a step stool. She looks like she's causing trouble here, but when I asked Isabella whether she wanted to help wash the dishes, she replied "thank you" in Chinese.

Isabella and her love for kitchen stuff

Isabella loves kitchen stuff, and she's played with various kitchen sets at friends' homes and at churches. Haven't gotten her a kitchen. . .

But if Santa is taking a peek here or if any interested and searching persons are looking for gift ideas, this seems like a good one: KidKraft's Large Kitchen on Amazon.com.
  • It's on sale for $99.88 (list price of $225.99).
  • It's made of wood.
  • It has a 4.5 star rating out of some 78 ratings.
  • Older kids enjoy this, too; so, it shouldn't lose it's appeal any time soon.

Introducing Zephan George Chang Calhoun

Zephan George Chang Calhoun
born: Friday, December 5, 2008
1:38 PM
Weight: 8 pounds, 8 ounces
Height: 21.5 inches long

My sister was truly amazing. Like my second birth, she was going for a VBAC (vaginal birth after C-section), and there are so many concerns about that up to the last minute. But, the possibility of another C-section was both extremely terrifying and not preferred for either of us. Well, through the Lord's graciousness and many answered prayers, Tenny muscled her way, without any drugs whatsoever, through a vaginal delivery. Thank you so very much for praying for Tenny for a safe and healthy delivery.

Running a circus show

So much is going at once, at any point in the day, that I feel like I'm the ringmaster at a circus show, only I haven't had the proper training for the role and I am flying by the seat of my pants, hoping for the best.

Trying to get things around the house done - laundry, cooking, dishes - while making sure my children aren't getting into trouble is always interesting. Isabella, not noticing her size and strength, in comparison to her sister, Victoria - is oftentimes laying on her, tugging on her, slapping things or toys on to her. All out of love and affection, of course.

Mercifully, most of the time, Victoria finds her sister amusing and rarely complains of the boxing and wrestling practices she's volunteered to do.

Meanwhile in the last week or so, Isabella's curiosity has heightened and she asks "what's that?" or "who's that" to just about everything. Still, she presents plenty of unpredictability . . . sometimes wanting us to anticipate her wants and desires without her having to tell us, being super picky about what she wants to eat at meal times, when she is going to be extremely clingy.

What about Victoria? Her interests have gradually moved beyond her immediate proximity. She's no longer just interested with glancing at her hands, sticking her feet in her mouth, sucking on my nose, pulling my hair, my boob. She like to roll places to check her surroundings, and when she notices something she likes, she grabs it and brings it to her mouth for a taste. Remember, babies at this age use their tongues for exploration. Their tactile senses are not yet as sharp.

I love Victoria's wavy locks of hair. They have a personality of their own. Brushing, well, that only serves to get knots out. Her hair can be shaped, ever temporarily, by wetting her hair and brushing it. But, I must say, I love her hair as is; gives her personality.

Here's our other gorgeous beauty, one who is keen on exploring the bounds of her autonomy. I am determined to let her have a voice, since doing so is crucial to her healthy development. But, I do draw boundaries. I am not a restaurant, where everybody gets to ring in different menus each meal. Either eat what I provide, or don't eat at all. Seem a bit harsh? Well, I am providing a choice - eat or don't eat. Don't worry, there are times I provide more than those two options. . . And, I am most certainly not the relentless task master.

Anyways, I'm enjoying some deliciously scrumptuous Crispy Crunchy Chocolate Chip Cookies dear Manda picked out for me, from my most favorite grocery store ever - Trader Joe's. This circus show is taking an intermission. Ciao.
